Specifically sphingosines, ceramides, gangliosides, pholphatidyl inositol phosphates and many other lipids used in signal transcuction and biomedical research. Their strength is in chemical synthesis, extraction and purification of natural products. They routinely produce custom preparations of high quality and purity, which are not part of their product line. The company has grown to $1M in sales and 10 people using primarily trade shows and a catalog.
Situation: In March 2000, a new management team took over Matreya. They determined that their initial experience with a simple web site showed great promise to reach more clients and sell more products. To achieve this promise, they decided to upgrade their site to refresh the company image, incorporate the products catalog and improve their site management. The team asked IMC to help them accomplish these goals.
Solution: Working with the management team, IMC staff provided e-Business Assistance through an assessment of their current site. The team then developed a list of recommendations that would help the company better accomplish their goals. The staff then helped the team define the new site requirements or needs in a specification format. With this specification, quotes were requested from selected local web site development companies. During the proposal review, IMC provided the Matreya management team with technical assistance to evaluate each proposal. After the management team selected the web site developer, IMC staff assisted them in the initial stages of the project to insure that a detailed schedule was defined. During this process, IMC staff also developed the statistical baseline of the current site and began to work with the management team to expand their keywords and search engine registration. The newly upgraded web site became operational in October 2000.
Results: Many of the company's customers have made positive comments about their new site and how easy it is to use. The site visitors jumped from 1,000 to more than 2,000 and page views from 2,000 to over 6,000. The management team is very excited about the results. They are currently working to improve their system further by turning their increased contacts into more sales.
